A Successful IB Immersion Day – Fostering Future Leaders
A Successful IB Immersion Day – Fostering Future Leaders
On Friday, October 18th, Dr. Elizabeth Yost and Dr. Sara Willox had the pleasure of hosting the second annual IB Immersion Day, and it was an incredible success! The event welcomed 40 enthusiastic high school freshmen, accompanied by their teacher and chaperones, for a day packed with learning, inspiration, and hands-on activities.
The students were divided into small groups of four and immersed in a variety of insightful sessions. We were thrilled to have speakers from IBPA, our very own KAPM president, recent IB Alumni, and of course, the very knowledgeable Dr. Carlos Valdez, who all shared valuable insights about the IB program and its real-world applications.
Beyond the informative sessions, the students also had the chance to explore the campus during a guided tour, offering them a glimpse into college life and all that our institution has to offer.
The highlight of the day, however, was the afternoon activity. In true “Shark Tank” style, students worked in teams to develop and pitch a product or service based on an identified problem and need. Their creativity was on full display, and it was fantastic to witness their excitement and innovation during the presentations. Not only did they have fun, but they also gained a deeper understanding of problem-solving, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking.
The day was a great success, and we are proud to have sparked the curiosity of these future leaders. We look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the world, and we hope IB Immersion Day inspired them to consider pursuing the IB path.
A big thank you to our speakers, organizers, and of course, the students for making the day memorable!
