Spring 2018 IB Competition

The inaugural Integrated Business Competition took place on Friday, March 30th in the College of Business. While there were 21 teams who initially applied, only 11 teams were selected to present in the semi-final round; 3 of which claimed 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Teams were asked to develop a small business plan for a fictitious coffee shop using elements from the eight courses that make up the Integrated Business major. Twenty four judges (mostly made up of graduated IB alumni) representing twenty unique employers, spent their time Friday evening evaluating those presentations, delivered intense Q&A, and networked with the nominated teams. All of the Integrated Business faculty (and staff) were involved in executing this event in one way or another. Prizes included scholarship monies, trophies, a purple ticket and letters of recommendation for the first place team from the department chair, Dr. Jim Gilkeson.
“This event was a success, in every aspect, and we look forward to running it again in the Fall semester.” –Christopher Leo
