High School Competition 2025

The department of Integrated Business at UCF hosted another successful High School Competition. Spearheaded by Dr. Shelley Maccini, this year’s event was our biggest event yet.  We had six participating high schools, approximately 115 high school students, and approximately 70 Integrated Business (IB) student volunteers.

During the event, IB students coach teams of high school school student through a case competition.  IB students also play the role of judges, exposing them to the experience of “sitting on the other side” and asking questions of the presenters.  IB students also volunteer for various roles supporting the event logistics. This event is often the first time for high school students to set foot on a university campus and get a taste of what is to come. Everyone is guaranteed to feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the event.

When asked about this year’s event, Dr. Shelley Maccini said, “Everyone in IB touched this event in some way, and you all have my gratitude for helping to continue this tradition.”

Special recognitions go to Dr. Ray Eddy for his work with the IB student skills trainers and team builders, to Dr. David Penn for writing this year’s case, and to Dr. Cristian Alecse for organizing the professional development workshop. Recognition also goes to all of our faculty who shared their knowledge and experience with the high school teachers, and to our chair for continuing to support this event.

Most importantly, we would like to congratulate the IB student coaches of the winning teams:

John Buschmann

Ben Challco

Ashtmi Deo

Braeden Proulx

Robert Ruble

Grace (Duto) Wilcox

Dante Zamarian

We certainly look forward to continuing this tradition. Go IB!
