IB Event: AMA Kick-Off

Written by Tiara Jimenez

AMA Kick-Off Meeting :

As Integrated Business students we have the opportunity to develop ourselves as professionals capable to stand our ground in many different business fields. However, it’s our responsibility to target and polish the skills that we need to develop for our desired careers. There are many ways to accomplish this. You can join a business fraternity, club, internship etc. If you are looking to grow as a marketer, a great option would be the American Marketing Association (or AMA). The AMA will be able to assist with additional out of class development. That way you can be a marketing professional who will land the job by the time you graduate.

This past Monday, September 9th, they hosted their Kick-Off meeting to inform potential new members about this opportunity. The AMA isn’t just looking for marketing students to join. They accept people from other business backgrounds. They are also looking for people from diverse backgrounds to fill up some of the board members spots. IB student Smerelyn Gutierrez is part of the board of AMA. This is what she had to say about her experience and how it has helped her stand out among the other IB students:

“I joined because I got the chance to build my personal brand through their resources like resume critique and their workshops. This has helped me gain more internships and network with other professionals within the marketing field.”

If you’re interested in joining, don’t hesitate to get in contact with them. In the link attached you’ll find all the contact information needed.
